Sarah Jane Case Burnett Case

1913

Great-Great Grandmother of my husband, Sarah Jane Case.  She was born in 1840 to Ira Case & Phebe Bagley Case in New York and married Charles Frank Burnett in 1860.  They had two children, Frank Charles & Nellie May.  Charles died in 1876 in New York.  At some point she moved to Michigan with her family.  She married Truman Case in 1880.  I am not sure if he was a relative but he could have been a cousin.  Truman died in 1907.  The last husband I have listed is Charles Ramsey, 1910.  The reason I am starting to question this one is because she is named as Grandma Case in the above photo.  This might have just been out of habit but maybe not.  Sarah died in 1915 in Bay Shore, Michigan.

Smokey 1993-2009

We received Smokey in the Fall of 1994 from my brother & sister-in-law. She wasn't a kitten when we received her so we were not sure of her exact birthday. But she was truly a wonderful cat. I do not remember her ever getting into something she wasn't suppose to, leaving the house without us or biting. She didn't enjoy the children when they were younger and pulled her tail but in recent years she grew to love them also. Her favorite spot was lying on our waterbed. She always purred when you pet her. She use to "bite" Eric's hair. (I kind of forgot about that until just now!)

I will miss her laying against my legs at night and her soft thick fur. I will miss the welcoming look on her face and her moving to greet me. I will just really miss her.

Genealogy

Although this blog hasn't had much content on my family history, I might start. This is kind of a test run. (The picture is of me with some of the kittens taken in the 70's.)

I am currently focusing on organizing my genealogy materials since I hadn't been very good about that up to this point. I am using my lovely MacBookPro along with iFamily for Lepoard and Bento. Of course I haven't even started on my drawer full of files. What I have been doing is locating census records and sending a digital copy to my computer for transcribing into Bento, among other records. I have created a number of "Libraries" on Bento which are connected to a main listing of people in my tree. I love Bento since I can link files and add pictures etc. I would love to show this to people so if you know me, ask and I will bore you for hours!

(#6) Flickr Mashups etc

I had no idea what a mash-up was so that was a good thing to know! The Flickr Color Pickr & Retrievr are quite similar and both could be a really big time waster, in a fun way! The pickr only requires a selection of a color where the retrievr needs an image or a drawing. The Flickr Toys area had so many different things to look at and do! The one I liked the best from that selection was the Lolcats because I have seen a number of different pictures on the web with that title and I really do LOL! So I created one for my cute cat picture. I also created a trading card but didn't make it a librarian card because mine was more general and didn't really know what to write in the comments area and I am not officially a librarian. Sorry!

This picture is actually of my cat, not me! But I had to upload a picture to my blog in order to add the same picture to my blog profile.




Adding a picture also involved me editing this post so I thought I would add that finding the right spot to edit posts took a few minutes because the help screen didn't tell me how to get to the correct screen to find Posting Edit Posts. So hopefully if anyone asks me to show them how to do this, I will remember how to do this! (Think: Customize)
